Gilded Pear Gallery is a full service contemporary art gallery in Cedar Rapids, IA. The gallery features over 70 artists (local and national) across varying media including jewelry and fine crafts. The Grant Wood Studio from April through December on Saturday and Sundays from noon-4:00 PM with free admission. Free docent guided tours begin on the hour and half hour. Grant Wood (1891-1942) was a prominent member of the Regionalist movement. He lived and worked in this studio from 1924 to 1935. His most famous painting, American Gothic, was painted in this studio in 1930. Learn about where Grant Wood lived and worked and created some of his most famous works!

Please note that while the Armstrong Visitor Center is handicap accessible, the Studio is not.

The Iowa Masonic Library and Museums is regarded as one of the best facilities in the world for Masonic research. The library houses over 250,000 volumes of which several thousand are rare Masonic books for the serious researcher, and a circulating collection for the casual reader. Other collections include the Iowa collection, religious and philosophical collections, the A.E. Waite collection of esoteric and occult science, the Dr. Arthur W. Erskine collection of original papers and materials in the field of X-ray technology, the Joseph A. Walkes collection of Prince Hall Masonry, and the Harvey collection of Landscape architecture.

The library building also contains several museums, including Masonic and non-Masonic collections. The Masonic Museum houses Masonic decorative arts, regalia, equipment, medallions, and jewels from around the world. Included is the three-paneled painting “The First Three Degrees of Freemasonry,” the only known Masonic painting by Iowa artist Grant Wood. A General History Museum houses artifacts dealing with general world history. Included are Babylonian tablets, Egyptian artifacts, Native American materials, Japanese samurai armor, and wood carvings by local Czech folk artist John J. Stodala. The Swab collection contains porcelains, statuettes, and other fine art from around the world
